Depth Filter
Depth filtration is commonly used for pre-filtration such as fermentation broth clarification, removal of cellular debris and DNA, pretreatment in blood products and other biological products. SaiClear® depth filters are specially developed for clarification applications in the biotechnological and pharmaceutical industries and can significantly reduce the difficulty of downstream purification.
SaiPu has multiple grades of depth filters to provide suitable solution for different application scenarios.
Product advantages
- Diatomite and cellulose are used as membrane materials, with high dirt-holding capacity
- Higher impurity removal capacity by mechanical interception and electrostatic adsorption
- Combine multiple clarification steps into one device to optimize the clarification process
- Provide all scales products to meet your needs from R&D to manufacture
Filter applications
- Clarification filtration of fermentation broth and cell culture broth

- Particle and colloid removal from process intermediates
Clarification filtration
The purpose of clarification is to effectively separate cells, cell debris and other gelatinous materials from the harvested solution and to provide an impurity-free feed solution for downstream purification. Clarification of cellular harvests is the first step in the downstream purification of biopharmaceutical processes, usually using a combination of centrifugation, tangential flow filtration, flocculation and deep filtration. Depth filtration technologay, which can improve product quality and simplify operations, is increasingly respected by the industry. Harvest clarification filtration usually uses two stages of depth filtration: the first stage uses a filter media with larger pore sizes to remove cells or cell debris; the second stage uses a filter media with tighter pore sizes to remove colloidal impurities.
SaiClear® depth filter
To meet different process requirements, SaiPu developed the SaiClear® P-Series and S-Series depth filters.
The filter media inside are the same as those used in conventional depth filtration systems, with a wide choice of precision and model. In addition, SaiClear® has a small footprint, saving space in the cleanroom. Compared to conventional depth filtration systems, SaiClear® is flexible in its installation location and easy to operate, making it suitable for process development.
